Widespread DNS resolution issues outside the DC

There is some kind of network problem with one of the feeds into the datacenter. Its outside the DC's control though since it is an upstream provider.

This actually seems to be a widespread dns problem. We've even gotten other calls from other clients in different datacenters of ours. There appears to be something fundamentally wrong with the dns system:

You'll see that the fault is in finding the nameserver IPs. It doesn't even get to the point where it starts asking our servers what the IP is. The connection never reaches us. It times out before it gets to our location. This demonstrates that the problem is outside our control. We had two other clients with this issue yesterday. One of them went away on its own, the other logged into his domain registrar and redid his nameserver IPs and that resolved it within a couple of hours.

This is neither a problem relating to our servers, nor with the datacenter. It is some kind of problem with the root level dns servers and/or the registrar.

If you are having this problem and using custom nameservers, then Please go to your domain registrar and force a change in your nameserver IPs and give it a couple of hours to see if that clears it up. Once you redo your nameserver IPs, it should resolve the issue at the root level.

If you are having this problem and NOT using custom nameservers, then we have already reset our nameservers and you should allow approx 12-24 hours for our updates to be taken into effect.
